Weight Training

Strength training can be the missing ingredient to the weight loss puzzle for most people. Many people think training with weights is only for bodybuilders but the truth is that almost anyone can benefit from proper weight training exercises. There are multiple benefits to proper weight training exercises including increased muscular strength, greater stamina and endurance and also weight loss benefits from having a higher metabolism. There are many exercise routines you can try that could work well for you, the key is to just get started and then stick with it long term.

Maintain high intensity:

The ideal way to workout is with weights is to lift heavy weights but for short durations. This will trigger the muscle growth hormones in your body so that you can build new muscle or maintain existing muscle mass. One good approach can be to take 1 to 2 warm up sets using only 50 percent or even less of your maximum effort and then simply do one heavy set with the maximum weight you can lift for 5 to 8 repetitions and then do one cool down set with lighter weights. It is not necessary to spend hours and hours in the gym if you want to build a healthy level of muscle mass or maintain what you have already built.

Workout the right amount:

Strength training exercise can be very stressful on your body so be sure to only spend as much time as you absolutely have to in order to trigger new muscle growth and then get out of the gym and rest. How often you workout is based on how much weight you lift. The more weight you lift the more rest you will need between workouts in order to fully recover. Remember that the objective of the workout is to get stronger and build new muscle so be sure to give yourself enough rest to recover and allow your body to rebuild the muscle to a stronger level.

The problem with working out too much is that your body ends up in a state of over training which then means that you will not add any new muscle and your immune system also gets weakened. You must avoid this if you want to stay healthy and promote proper weight loss. One interesting and possibly effective approach to weight training is called static contraction training. This approach focuses on working out only in the strongest range of motion and lifting very heavy weights for smaller time periods.

It is ideal to use the custom workout equipment that is designed for this kind of exercise as lifting very heavy weights in the gym can be dangerous especially if you do not have a spotter. Another benefit to this type of training is that it will help you to avoid over training as the workouts are very short but intense, as long as you rest enough you will be able to recover more quickly and get gains faster.
